Data-science / Medicine Hybrid Jussi Leinonen joins Healthzilla's Advisory Team

Healthzilla is excited to announce the latest addition to its world-class advisory team and extend a warm welcome to MD, Ph.D. Jussi Leinonen. Jussi is a data science / medicine hybrid by definition. He has practiced medicine in multiple specialties and completed his Ph.D. in regenerative medicine in Israel, the country of innovation. In the last few years, Jussi has worked at Bayer Pharmaceuticals managing global drug trials and now he works as a principal data scientist, leading the efforts of bringing artificial intelligence to clinical trials.

“I want to help Healthzilla to the next level in personalized health guidance by bringing in my expertise in combining medicine, clinical research, and data science,” Jussi explains. The entire Zilla team is thrilled to have him on board as they dive deeper into health data and plan to roll out their deep-tech offering to the healthcare industry in 2020.

A budding entrepreneur, John also sits as the Chairman for his own restaurant chain, Yolk Philippines which broadened his expertise in the food retail space and has become a playground to advocate serving real, authentic food battling the big commercial fast foods. 

John brings to Healthzilla his passion for in-depth consumer understanding and aims to reach more people, transform lives and drive a more purposeful growth for the brand.

Riku Vassinen (M.Sc. Economics) is currently Managing Partner in Ogilvy Africa based in Nairobi. Through his 16 years in marketing spanning across Asia, Europe and Africa he has lead digital teams in J. Walter Thompson, R/GA, TBWA and was the Country Manager for MySpace. 

Experience with global, regional and local clients across over 50 markets, his work has been awarded multiple Grand Prix and Gold Effies and other industry accolades. He has written two critically acclaimed books about digital marketing and is a frequent keynote speaker in marketing events. 

Former basketballer, his current sport routine is functional fitness carrying her daughter around.

Russell comes to us from the hedge fund industry, where he worked on information-theoretic approaches to the identification of topological correlations among financial signals, using various techniques with application to physiological signals as well. He also specializes in data cleaning pipelines for machine learning with unstructured, missing, or partially erroneous information.
