Healthzilla Technology featured as a Potential COVID-19 Crisis Solution Tool by Health Tech Hub Copenhagen

Healthzilla’s smartphone fingertip scan technology for capturing acute changes in HRV-data was featured as a potential COVID-19 crisis solution tool by Health Tech Hub Copenhagen. All shortlisted companies have a validated, working solution ready for implementation.

The analysis was based on five criteria as listed below.

  • Ease of implementation: How disruptive and resource intensive is the implementation and how long will it take (less is better – we are looking for days to weeks).

  • COVID-19 impact: Positive impact expected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Post-COVID-19 impact: Positive impact expected after the systems return to a non-crisis situation.

  • Dependency on external bottlenecks: Is the solution dependant on travel, international manufacturing or other areas of life, health and business that are disrupted by the current crisis?

  • Localization: How resource intensive is the process of adapting the solution to Denmark (and any other country) – e.g. language dependency, specific process dependency?

The entire team is grateful for the recognition and visibility to help them identify the right partners to slow down COVID-19 together. “We can’t do this alone. We need a coalition of partners,” says Laura Ranin, CEO of Healthzilla.

About the solution:

Our free Healthzilla app has already been measuring stress levels by capturing and analyzing Heart Rate Variability ("HRV") data using just the smartphone camera and your finger. It turns out, there is a wealth of research on HRV as a leading indicator for disease and infection incl. influenza.

“If it's possible we could detect COVID-19 in this chaotic situation, we felt an obligation to try our hardest. With test kits becoming more and more scarce, a Finger Tip Scan on your camera phone could be an alternative solution to infections’ early detection,” Ranin concludes.
